Penny Sanborn is an accordion performer and educator from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She performs solo, in chamber music ensembles, and with orchestra. She also teaches accordion lessons to accordionists of varying skill levels. She holds a Master of Music degree on accordion from the University of Calgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts, and studies with distinguished concert accordionist Sir N. Antonio Peruch. She has been awarded grants from professional organizations including the Canada Council for the Arts and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. She is currently working on a research project adapting early music for accordion, funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) in Canada. Her performance credits include the world-renowned Luciano Pavarotti, Itzhak Perlman, Renée Fleming, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and appearances in Canada, Dubai and Europe.
