Born in Calgary, Canada, JAMIE (as he is known) began studying classical violin at age 5. Two years later he began studying fiddle, country, and bluegrass music. As a teenager he toured internationally performing classical and fiddle music. Upon achieving a Music Performance Diploma from Mount Royal University Conservatory at age 19 and a Bachelor of Music degree with Distinction from the University of Calgary at age 21, JAMIE moved to the United States and achieved a Master of Music degree from the University of Arizona. He then moved to Austin, Texas to pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts degree.
His first big break came when he was invited to tour with DAVID BYRNE and Tosca Strings. JAMIE has worked with David Amram, Arcade Fire, Austin Opera (56 operas), AUSTIN POPS, Marcia Ball, Garth Brooks, Diahann Carroll, Natalie Cole, Elvis Costello, Christopher Cross, Sheena Easton, FALLS, Nanci Griffith, Neon Hitch, Diana Krall, Ray LaMontagne, Yo-Yo Ma, Rejane Magloire of Indeep & Technotronic, Kathy Mattea, Bobby McFerrin, Don McLean, Willie Nelson, Jeffrey Osborne, Luciano Pavarotti, PEARL JAM, Itzhak Perlman, Bernadette Peters, Ray Price, Bruce Robison, San Antonio Symphony, Doc Severinsen, Frank Sinatra Jr., the Temptations, Thee Phantom, Vast, and Yoshiki.
JAMIE has represented the City of Austin as a musical artist in Koblenz, Germany. He can be heard as SOLO VIOLINIST in the HOLLYWOOD movie 'Badland'. He is FIRST VIOLINIST on the soundtrack for the final episode of 'THE OFFICE' (NBC), and a violinist on the soundtrack for Terence Malick's film 'To The Wonder'.

JAMIE has appeared on the 'Austin City Limits' television show with DAVID BYRNE, RAY LAMONTAGNE, and PEARL JAM. His work with David Byrne has included COMPOSING ARRANGEMENTS, RECORDING, and multiple WORLD TOURS; with performances at Apollo Theater, Bonnaroo Festival, Carnegie Hall, Disney Hall, and the Hollywood Bowl. This collaboration has also included appearances on television programs 'On the Record with Bob Costas', 'Later with Jools Holland', 'Late Show with David Letterman', and 'Late Night with Conan O'Brien'.
JAMIE performs, and records, on a Charles Boullangier violin (1879) listed in 'On Stage' magazine, and on a Samuel Eastman viola (2010).
JAMIE was awarded FIRST PRIZE at The Grand North American Fiddle Championship, and the MILLENNIUM PRIZE for his classical violin work
