Nia Devetzis is a percussionist based in Calgary and completed her Bachelor of Music - with distinction - in percussion performance and education with Rod Squance at the University of Calgary. She is an active performer and teacher all around the city, running band clinics and private lessons, as well as performing in a wide variety of genres. Nia has performed with such groups as the Rubbing Stone Ensemble, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, pit orchestra's for Front Row Centre Theater, and Calgary Girls Choir. February of 2014 gave her the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in the final round of the RBC Concerto Competition. She has also been a participant of the TorQ Percussion Quartet Music Seminar, where she had the opportunity to work with Russell Hartenburger, and Nebosja Zivkovic as well as the TorQ Quartet. This seminar is also a part of Stratford Summer Music, where Nia was able to perform chamber and solo works as part of their barge concerts.
