Catalina holds a Graduate Diploma in Historical Performance from the Juilliard School, and a Master of Music Degree in Bassoon Performance from the University of Montreal. She also holds diplomas in Music Performance and Music Education from the University of Costa Rica and a second Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from the Distance State University of Costa Rica (UNED).
Since 2005, she traveled extensively through the USA, Canada, Europe and Latin America as a performer, pedagogue and community leader. She attended recognized early music festivals such as Oficina de Música Antigua de Curitiba (Brazil), Varmia Musica Academia (Poland) Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute (Canada), Tafelmusik Winter Institute (Canada), American Bach Soloists (San Francisco), Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute (Ohio), Oregon Bach Festival and Amherst Music Festival.
Catalina has collaborated with different ensembles as McGill Baroque Orchestra (Montreal), Ensemble Telemann (Montreal), Juilliard 415 (New York), the Calgary Civic Orchestra, the Rocky Mountain Orchestra.
Catalina Guevara is co-founder of the successful FEMUSC festival in Brazil and serves as its Coordinator of the Early Music Program focused on baroque, classical and colonial music performed on period instruments. She also launched the Mount Parnassus Foundation in Canada to foster the careers and performances of women in historical performance. She has performed operas and concerts featuring the early music scene conducted by Hank Knox, Barthold Kuijken, Luc Beauséjour, Jeffrey Thomas, Robert Mealy, Richard Egarr, Pablo Heras-Casado, Avi Stein, Nicholas McGegan and Ruben Valenzuela.
Catalina works as a music teacher for the Francosud Board School in Calgary.
